On-Demand Webinar: Healthcare IT, EHR Adoption
Electronic health records (EHRs) are required by all healthcare organizations by 2014 according to President Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). However, if healthcare organizations do not reach the threshold of meaningful EHR use by 2015, they will be penalized with reduced Medicare and Medicaid payments of 1-3%. According to HIMSS, only 6% of hospitals have EHRs which would qualify under the federal mandate. One of the barriers to EHR adoption is physician resistance. If done right, EHRs can reduce medical errors and improve patient care. Therefore it is crucial that EHR implementations cause minimal disruption and frustration to physicians.
Hayes Management Consulting and Aternity have teamed up to provide an approach that not only mitigates physician frustration, but engages physicians and other users as champions of EHR technology. This novel approach combines Hayes’ rapid prototype implementation methodology and Aternity’s Frontline Performance Intelligence (FPI) Platform. Hayes’ methodology obtains physician input up front while Aternity’s FPI Platform provides proactive post-live support. With this approach, physician adoption skyrockets.
Chaired by Peter Butler, President of Hayes Management Consulting (ranked Top Overall Professional Service Firm by KLAS), this webinar is for healthcare organizations which are either in the planning or implementation stages of their EHR and other strategic IT initiatives. Attendees will learn how to improve physician adoption, obtaining the best return on their IT investment and provide better care to patients.
Butler will be joined by Trevor Matz, President and CEO of Aternity. Matz will draw upon his background as worldwide managing director of Application Integration at InterSystems Corporation, as well as his expertise in the Application Performance Management space. In this webinar, he will illustrate how Frontline Performance Intelligence (FPI) can dramatically improve the way EHR and other healthcare IT projects are planned and implemented, and demonstrate new ways to measure and improve adoption rates, productivity and performance of these initiatives.
Attendees will learn:
- About rapid prototype methodology and how it improves implementation efficiency and physician adoption
- Why EHR implementation is not “an IT project” but an operational and patient care improvement project
- How to make lasting operational, procedural, and software enhancements that will improve patient care and the revenue cycle
- To apply the latest strategies around a user-centric approach to Application Performance Management that result in improved physician adoption and efficacy
- How to dramatically reduce business disruptions and the resulting costs of resolving service level issues
- How to leverage FPI metrics to support informed capacity planning across the entire IT infrastructure
- How to maximize investments in Virtual Desktop initiatives such as Citrix, Terminal Services and VDI
