Monitor: Any Application, Any Business Process
Robust Platform offers Broadest Range of User-Centric, Application Performance Monitoring for Comprehensive Enterprise View
The Aternity Frontline Performance Intelligence (FPI) Platform is architected to support end user experience monitoring of the broadest range of application and desktop architectures that exist within today’s enterprises. In addition, the platform’s extensibility ensures it is “future proof” for any planned or unplanned application, desktop, and architecture change.

Aternity is "future proof" for any planned or unplanned application, desktop, and architecture change. |
Aternity monitors frontline user application experience by passively “listening” for application activity signatures at the operating system level. Since different application architectures require integration with different operating system level signatures, Aternity provides unique logical plug-ins or cartridges, for monitoring the broadest range of application architectures available today. Each cartridge captures user-defined business activities or processes, such as “logon”, “order item” or “add new customer”, for the specific application architecture. Business Activities can be granular single step processes or complex, multi-step processes spanning multiple applications. Aternity currently offers cartridges for the following application and (real or virtual) desktop architectures and technologies:
- Web-based applications, e.g. SharePoint, Siebel, Custom applications
- Rich Internet applications, e.g. AJAX
- Client/Server applications, e.g. SAPGUI, Custom Trading applications
- COM-based applications, e.g. MS Outlook
- Java applications (AWT & Swing)
- JInitiator-based applications, e.g. Oracle E-Business Suite
- Citrix XenApp / ICA
- Terminal Server / RDP
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Deployments
In addition to integrating with the hardware and software “inventory” components of the operating system, the Aternity FPI Platform integrates with the following key technologies to comprehensively monitor desktop-related performance metrics:
- Process Details, including detection of hung and crashed processes
- Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
- Event Log, including “stateful” inspection of system and application events
- Windows Scripting Host (WSH), with full support of VBScript and Javascript
